Local Outreach

God calls us to love and care for our community and world as he does. We believe that the best way to do that is by demonstrating love through service and building authentic relationships. God is using people at Neighborhood Church to bless others throughout our community and world in many different ways.  As a church family we unite together on a few specific projects to bless our community and world together and we desire to have all of Neighborhood Church involved in some way in the following projects.

Houston School Outreach
In 2006 NC “adopted” Houston Elementary School in Visalia as a way to connect and partner with families living in North Visalia.  NC does a number of activities through- out the year to support the school and get to know the families.  Some of these activities include a backpack drive, volunteering at school events like the fall carnival and Read-a-thon, teaching adult education classes for parents and providing fun week-long camps at the school during spring break and summer.  If you would like to find out more about getting involved with Houston School please contact Stephanie Bartsch at (559) 732-9107 or stephanie@neighborhood-church.com.

Graffiti Removal
Several times a year, graffiti removal teams are sent out around our community to paint over graffiti.

Jail Ministry
The jail ministry team reaches out to those who are incarcerated in the local county jail through the following:

• Jail visitation - regularly visit those in jail, sharing God’s love and encouragement with them.
• Correct correspondence courses - this group meets every friday morning to correct Bible correspondence courses.

For more information please contact John Sayers at (559) 733-6722.

Serve Visalia
At Neighborhood Church, we believe that worship consists of a life dedicated to God and that this is expressed in many different ways including singing, teaching, learning, and serving others.  Serve Visalia is a day where we worship a little differently as a church on a Sunday morning.  Instead of having a normal church service with singing and teaching, we go out into the community and serve the people in our city.  Last year we had 800 people- kids, teenagers, adults and seniors - all out serving together in 15 different projects across our city including, graffiti clean-up, landscaping the rescue mission, projects at Houston School, playing with kids and teen moms and much more.  We have chosen to do this to demonstrate that authentic love means caring for people in real and practical ways.  We believe that God’s love is real and that God calls us to be representatives of that love to our neighbors.  We hope that this day is a blessing to the people of our city.
